September 11, 2001, is for patriots, forever in our memory. Thousands of people were murdered that day, by a known enemy.
If you are classified as I am, a ‘boomer’ and a ‘patriot’, we learned about the Revolutionary War, the Civil War and World War II in school. Our eyes have seen pictures of the Nazi holocaust victims, watched films of Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal and D-Day, and patriots celebrated the fall of the Iron Curtain.
We later learned about the Korean War, the Lebanon Crisis, and some along with me, served in the war in Southeast Asia and then observed via television the Persian Gulf and wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
And, we have watched college students and then hippies who are now lying leaders in Washington; trash this country both in word and deed. We have been disappointed by immoral acts of priests and pastors and the depravity of child murderers and molesters, while our courts bend in sympathy to the accused.
There is much that could be added to this list, but in my lifetime, I thought I had just about seen it all . . . until September 11, 2001. On that day I got a new understanding of the enemy from without and subsequently, the rot from within.
Patriots of the United States have gained a new understanding and appreciation for liberty, as juxtaposed to the tyranny now upon us (just 8 years later), which as has not been experienced in this land since before 1776.
